At the beginning of the 4pm hour of CNN’s The Situation Room, Congressional correspondent Ed Henry reported that Senator John Kerry (D – MA) is calling for an Alito filibuster. Henry says that the Senior Senator from Massachusetts, Sen. Ted Kennedy (D) is also calling for a filibuster and is asking his colleagues to join the two. However, already three Democrats (Byrd, Nelson (Nebraska), and Johnson) have joined the Republicans in a vote for Alito. The ‘Gang of 14’ has already said that they do not plan to filibuster Alito, which means the rest of the 7 Democrats will probably join the vote against a filibuster.
