The Truth Laid Bear announced that links from ‘Open Trackbacks’ will no longer be away for you to excel in the Ecosystem. To be honest, I never did it for me to rise on the list as I never noticed a change in my ranking. Wherever I am at the moment on the list is where I have been for a while now. I agree with the TTLB’s decision because it brings honesty back in the system. To gain links off of Open Trackbacks is almost like voting several times in an election. The ranking you gain from using Open Trackbacks is artificial, as in where you are on the list is not where you should be. There is a reason why Instapundit and Michelle Malkin are at the top of the list, because they deserve it.
For the foreseeable future, I will not be discontinuing ‘Open Trackbacks’ because I never did it for ranking in the Ecosystem, but for bloggers to get noticed and to gain traffic.
