I never made the claim that this video was an attack on President Cheney, I accurately posted the story with the title “CNN Puts “X? on Cheney During Speech”. Of course I had the feeling—and I am sure everyone else did—that this was purposely done by CNN. What are the chances that this could happen while the Vice President was speaking and having a “X” perfectly positioned on his head. However the truth is, everyone got caught up in the hype of this event. I do not think this was some type of dupe and I do not think that someone was trying to trick us.
The Dan Report said he found the frame that occurred during the transition of the normal video feed to the “X”:
It’s odd that Dan seems to be quite glad that Drudge and other conservatives “got owned“. I don’t see how Drudge got owned, he just reported the facts. There was an “X” over Cheney’s head, correct? Like Drudge, I never claimed otherwise. I am just saying that when I posted the video I was being as impartial as I could. I did not give an opinion or claim that CNN was up to no good nor did I say the opposite.
Just because the text revealed under the “X” was demeaning does not mean that this was not down on purpose. Those who read my blog know that I do not wear a tin foil hat, but this new frame does not mean we can conclude it was an accident.
If there is an expectation for a retraction, there probably won’t be one unless the video it self is fake. I am waiting to get the word from the source that sent me the video to explain what they want done. I apologize to Michelle Malkin and others who linked to the post and put faith into me and the story. Again, I am sorry for those who thought they were misled and I hope this won’t be held against me in the future.

Ian, I belive the rile that Michelle was discussing was that there were questions whether your post of the “X” was the same as seen on CNN. I belive that it was, and that there was never any intent to “recreate” the footage. Some were so fast to disavow the CNN production staffs error that they were casting stones at whoever or whatever might discredit it.

Has the big “X” ever shown up before over anyones picture or script on screen? On CNN or any other channel? I’ve never seen it before on anything.
Some people are upset because they feel that the “X” is offensive and was done on purpose to discredit Cheney while others are giving CNN their praise. Of course we will probably never know the truth and we are entitled to our own opinion of how & why this happened.
