Johnnie Stevens, a decorated World War II (WWII) veteran appeared on Hannity & Colmes last night. Stevens lives in a small town in New Jersey and the government is taking his house away due to eminent domain. Stevens’ father served in World War I (WWI) and his grandparents were sold into slavery. This man is a true American hero and we pay him back by taking away his house and giving it to some money hungry land developers. Stevens said that he would give up his land if it went to useful things like building a road, a school, or a courthouse. Absolutely disgusting.

STEVENS: Most people don’t understand that what it means about money. Money is already but when a guy like me it’s not money, I was intending to stay here for the rest of my life.

STEVENS: And the thing that hurts me most is because I’m not physically able to fight the way I want too because I am a sick man and I don’t have too much time left. But I had intended to live out the rest of my life with that little house I got, tend my garden, and be living in peace. As it stands right now, I don’t know where I’m going, know what I’m going to do ..

Former New Jersey Governor hopeful, Doug Foresster actually ran on this issue during his campaign:

(Carteret, NJ) Gubernatorial candidate Doug Forrester went to Carteret today to criticize the attempt to use eminent domain to oust World War II veteran Johnnie Stevens from his home.

does anyone know if there is a legal fund set up to help Mr. Stevens fight this? I am from NJ (now living in London) and have long been disgusted by the hack-o-rama that is disguised as a state government. this has got to be stopped.

Johnnie Stevens is an 85 year old WWII veteran. His doctor has told him he has lung cancer and about 2 years left to live. Now officials in New Jersey want to take his home away.
