Patrick Fitzgerald held a press conference to explain to the media and the public the results of the Valerie Plame investigation and the indictment of Lewis “Scooter” Libby. Fitzgerald explains what Libby said and did that landed him an indictment.

Michelle Malkin live blogged and transcribed important parts. Read this:

Q: Terry Moran…There are some who see this is vindication of their views on the war. Is it?

A: This indictment is not about the war. Not about the propriety of the war. This is stripped of that debate and focused on a narrow transaction…they will be frustrated and not good for process and fairness of trial.

Ouch.

    Scooter Libby Not So “Lucky”

The NYT is reporting that Karl Rove, Bush’s deputy chief of staff and a senior advisor, won’t be indicted in the Plame case. He will remain under investigation though, lucky him.
Sooter Libby Jr., Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, will…

    Libby Indicted

Scooter Libby pulled down a 5 charge indictment from Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald’s grand jury and has resigned. No indictment for Karl Rove, but the investigation continues.

“But I think what we see here today, when a vice president’s chief of staff is charged with perjury and obstruction of justice, it does show the world that this is a country that takes its law seriously; that all citizens are bound by the law.

But what we need to also show the world is that we can also apply the same safeguards to all our citizens, including high officials. Much as they must be bound by the law, they must follow the same rules.

So I ask everyone involved in this process, anyone who participates in this trial, anyone who covers this trial, anyone sitting home watching these proceedings to follow this process with an American appreciation for our values and our dignity.

Let’s let the process take place. Let’s take a deep breath and let justice process the system.”

AP: “[T]hree people close to the investigation, each asking to remain unidentified because of grand jury secrecy, identified Rove as “Official A”.”

Bill O’Reiily is repeatedly asking guests saying the big question of the day is, “why would Scooter lie? I mean, he’s a bright guy—what’s his motive?”

    It’s a good question.

I keep asking: Who forged the Niger documents?

It’s possible the answer to both questions leads to the same place.

Reading this indictment, it’s disturbing that Scooter (according to the prosecution) not only lied, but tried throwing this on the back of Tim Russert.

    Take that, Liberal Media!!

It’s odd that they might expect Russert to take the fall for them, even though he had carried water earlier. When VP Cheney needed to scare us with gems like “we-know-where-they-are” and “there-can-be-no-doubt” bullseyes, Tim was always there to give him a free pass.

Just think: if Tim Russert wasn’t such a lazy liberal, he might have actually challenged our Vice President with some tough questions in our compulsive rush to war.

Scooter Libby and Plamegate: My thoughts

First, sorry I’ve not posted sooner this evening. My intent was to do so, but not long after I sat down at my desk I got caught up in some phone calls and a couple of other things and then ‘made a run for the border’ (to Taco Bell) ...

Scooter Libby And Plamegate: My Thoughts

Now that I’ve had time to assess the indictments against Scooter Libby, my thoughts fall in line pretty much with Stephen Spruiell at NRO’s Media Blog. He wrote: I just can’t understand it. I just finished reading the indictment, and…

    Wilson-Plamegate Fate

The waiting game has started about another non-story. Who outed Valerie Plame-Wilson as a desk person with the CIA; who will be indicted? Who cares? The woman was not undercover(s) except with her husband, hopefully at home. If anyone should be indict…
