Personally, I’m glad our news media prioritizes a story about the deaths of American servicemen over anything about a bunch of Islamofascists that want to kill us, for precisely the same reasons that I wanted to see hurricane coverage in Florida rather than Lucia Newman telling us how Havana is under water. If the globalists don’t like that, well boo-hoo for them, American lives should always be the lead story.

And you call yourself a conservative .. they aren’t glorifying the soldiers .. they are tryign to make a glaring point about the deaths. The media caring about the military .. HAHA, good one!

If you are a true conservative and are serious about conservative ideas; are you willing to discuss one of the straightest-shooting conservatives in government: Rep. Ron Paul of the 14th District in Texas. Yes, a Texas Republican Congressman. Why is the MSM scared to put this man on air, but quick to put liabilities like G. Libby and Ollie North to represent our values?
Be honest.
You should check out Rep. Ron Paul’s speech in the House last month. He knows his stuff. It’s a shame conservatives ignore his wisdom, and think trivialities luike Al Franken are worthy of serious discussion.

Ian, maybe I misread your intent, but just to confirm: do you think hurricane coverage in Havana should take precedence over coverage in Florida? If not, then why are you outraged that the lives of Americans killed to bring liberty to democracy isn’t a story at least as important as the people they liberated? Do American sacrifices even matter to you? Or are they just mindless stormtroopers we should sweep under the rug?

As far as Yahoo is concerned, they rate their news based on the number of clicks they get (per some time period) – the most popular stories go to the top, and the rest to the bottom. Sports and Lifestyle/etc stories always go on the bottom as well. This simply means that more people clicked on the 2000 deaths story than they did on the constitution story.
Certainly both stories are important – I don’t see reporting on sodliers’ death as either “glorifying” them or using them for some sort of political agenda. It is simply reporting, period. It is up to us, the readers, to decide what to make of it and what it means to each and every one of us.

What “2000” means. From two men at the sharp end of the stick
I’ll let Lt. Col. Steve Boylan speak on this matter (Thanks Michelle) From Lt. Col. Boylen’s remarks:I ask that when you report on the events, take a moment to think about the effects on the families and those serving in

MSNBC’s “Grim Milestone” banner applied to history
Little Green Footballs notes MSNBC’s “Grim Milestone” banner in part of their “Grim Milestone” watch. I thought I’d see what their tack on the conflict in Iraq would look like if applied to other points of conflict …

IAN,
You seem to think we should ignore the sacrifice of 2000 Americans…just sweep it under the rug, eh?
This number is so important for so many reasons, not the least of which is that BushCo. sold the war to Americans in part on the false premise that we would be greeted with roses and sweets, and we’d be done in Iraq in a matter of weeks…remember?
If Americans had been told we’d lose thousands of American soldiers, spend several hundred billion dollars, and be involved in a war with no apparent end, Bush would have never gotten the (tenuous) support that he did for his war. Period.

U.S. Army Lt. Col. Steve Boylan, director of the force’s combined press center, described the number as an “artificial mark on the wall.”
How dare he call their lives “artificial.” Those were REAL men. They bsacrificed their lives for this country. There is NOTHING artificial about them or their numbers. This is disgraceful spin.
“I ask that when you report on the events, take a moment to think about the effects on the families and those serving in Iraq,” Boylan said in an e-mail.
I am sure they are devastated. But the talking-point from the very beginning, as was used in the Pat Tillman tragedy, is that these boys knew the danger when they signed up. If President Bush truly cared for the troops, he would have planned an exit strategy. Indeed, he wouldn’t have sent them into harm’s way in the first place, because the war was completely unnecessary. That is the real tragedy—those lives were lost for no good reason, as Pat Buchanan says.
“The 2,000 service members killed in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom is not a milestone. It is an artificial mark on the wall set by individuals or groups with specific agendas and ulterior motives.”
The specific agenda and ulterior motives those brave men died for are currently under investigation by a special prosecutor. This war was fobbed on the servicemen and the American public by a trail of deception, and had NOTHING to do with conservative values.

The best way President Bush could get the MSM and the public back behind the war effort is to show some genuine personal sacrifice. He has sacrificed nothing.
Yesterday in his speech, he called out an un-named al-Qaida leader (we can guess) and called him a wealthy elite that sacrifices the lives of young men and is too much a coward to join them himself.
The line drew very little applause. Why? Because he could have been speaking about himself for all anyone knew.
The Bush twins MUST enlist. I know that has been a antagonizing liberal talking-point since the war began, mostly because they never believed the Bush kids had tghe guts to sign up for a war their daddy started. LIke the rest of the countyry, they don’t have any faith in the sacrifice, they know it’s a snow job.
So Barbara and Jenna MUST enlist. Prove the liberals wrong. Antagonize THEM. The nation will rally when they see real signs of service and sacrifice, instead of those snapshots of the girls layin g on the floor of a tavern intoxicated at a time when other young men and women are getting their arms and brains blown to smithereens.
Desperate times cause for desperate measures, and the only way WE can be expected to make sacrifices is if the LEADER does the same.

Oh please give me a break….some of you conservatives almost make me want laugh.
“There just saying that so people will see the people dead and turn on bush
”
First off, those are american lives out there buddy. I dont care if you a right or left but I want to be informed about who and how much we are losing to this war.
How can you call yourselves the logical ones and follow and defend bush like a servant or robot. This man is really doing things that can have a negative effect on the future of this country and you are complaining because of the placing of a headline????
Ill put it like this, when I was younger me and my brother would place The Race Game while watching tv (a form of media), now the goal was to look at something: a sitcom, commercial, anything and complain about the slightest thing that could be considered racist (ie why arent there enough blaack people in the background) and it was a fun game to play.
It’s so funny because how you all complain about the liberals, you all play the same chidish ass game to see whos being biased….. get a life cause its pathetic
!!

DeRon, I suspect you are liberal troll baiting here, but that concerns me much less than the way a lot of my conservative brethren are rising to you bait like dumb fish. We used to mock liberals for becoming insensitive politically correct losers with no sense of humor, while we were supposed to be the ones who were right and having fun. I am ashamed to say that most of conservatives are taking leave of their senses and guilty of the exact same political correctness. It’s time for me to jump ship, the Libertarian party is starting to look like a very good alternative, I should check what Harry Browne is saying. We used to be a party of real men, we’ve gone soft, we’re turning into wimps, and broadcasting the fact.
