Expose the Left
October 11, 2005

COVINGTON, Louisiana – First lady Laura Bush joined her husband in defending his nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday and said it was possible some critics were being sexist in their opposition to Harriet Miers.

“That’s possible, I think that’s possible,” Mrs. Bush said when asked on NBC’s “Today Show” whether criticism that Miers lacked intellectual heft were sexist in nature. She said Miers’ accomplishments as a lawyer made her a role model to young women.

Michelle Malkin thinks the First Lady is using the sexism card.

Me: I’m not too sure.

Yes Laura is playing the sexism card. But you know that has to be one element in the mix of reasons not to like her qualifications.
If Laura can get women to support Miers it puts the anti-Mier people on the defensive. At least thats the plan. It’s nice to see Laura fighting for her friend and her husband.

The Conservative opposition looks tough though because this could be their best chance to confirm a tried and true well documented far right Supreme Court Judge. It’ll take more than Laura to get these guys to back off.

    Now Lets Bash Mrs. Bush!

Apparantley it isn’t enough for the “Coalition of the Illin” to bash GWB. It looks like they’ve decided to move on to Mrs. Bush now. Sinking to talking about her horse jokes? Michelle Malkin says that Mrs. Bush used the sexis…

Michele Malkin might be right for once – attacking someone for their qualifications does not equate sexism.

    Bashing Laura Bush

When push comes to shove, Republicans have turned into a bunch of simpy whiney assed children who don’t know how to behave themselves.

Laura Bush was wrong. Many fine conservative women were available. Her hubby picked a crony.

All of the critics who have been upset by this (ALL of them) have named other women they prefer on the court.

    Sexism? No way.

Interesting that the right wing and left wing blogs are all posting this video…

Laura: “I know how many times she’ broken the glass ceiling herself.”

No really. How many times can one break a “ceiling?”

    Matt: “Some suggest sexism”
Laura: “It’s possible, it’s possible. People are not looking at her accomplisments. She’s the first woman /something/ and the first woman /something else/.”

Clearly she’s the top candidate, then.
