RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman has this to say about the retirement of Justice O’Connor:

“As the first woman ever to serve on the United States Supreme Court, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor shattered the glass ceiling that existed in American jurisprudence. Over the past twenty-four years, her contributions to the nation’s highest court will be remembered for her thoughtful, well-reasoned rulings on the difficult issues of the day. Her presence on the Court will never be replaced, but her seat must be filled and President Bush will work to put forth a nominee worthy of succeeding Sandra Day O’Connor. I urge Senate Democrats to look beyond the inevitable protest from far-left special interest groups and approach any nominee with the unbiased evaluation they deserve.?

Blogger and law professor Eugene Volokh was on Connected: Coast to Coast via phone to discuss the retirement of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Volokh was a clerk for O’Connor.

    FAREWELL, SANDRA DAY

Bill Kristol called it on O’Connor’s retirement. Let’s hope he is wrong about her replacement: President Bush will appoint Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to replace O’Connor. Bush certainly wants to put Gonzales on the Supreme Court. Presidents …

This is going to be very entertaining and informative indeed. Chris Dodd and Ted Kennedy(representing the far left) certainly didn’t waste any time before promising to filibuster President Bush’s nominees.

But the on the bright side, this will give the liberals in the United States Senate another opportuniy to show the voting public just how radical and out of touch they are with the values of regular folks.

And the war is joined. Two immensely powerful forces meet in the political equivilant of toe to toe nuclear combat to fill the seat. What great entertainment this will be. Warning: Don’t misunderestimate the Chimpster, again.
