UPDATE: Hillary’s remarks on video

BUMPED

(via Michelle Malkin)

Karl Rove:

Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.

(Source: NY Times) sub. req’d

Does anyone see anything wrong with that quote? Well apparently Democrats do and they’re demanding that Rove apologize. Apologize for what? Speaking the truth?

The Democrats are trying to make Karl Rove the Sen. Dick Durbin (D – IL) of asinine comments.

Blogger friend Joe Gandelman says:

Let me get this straight: Republicans who were upset over the over-the-top remarks of Senator Richard Durbin and the pungent comments of Senator Harry Reid are now defending Karl Rove accusing liberals and Democrats of not wanting to fight terrorism — and in effect wanting to see American troops die?

Not true Joe. Durbin’s comments had no truth behind them, while Rove did speak the truth. Maybe Rove should have said “some liberals” and not all.

There’s a clear difference between Dick Durbin and Karl Rove: Durbin’s statement was incorrect.

This is a desperate, hideous and stupid gambit merely to shift the spotlight to the Republican Party. And we all know the rationale. The strength of the Democratic Party has been subsiding—lack of ideas, filibuster, Dean, Durbin, Reid. So it should not be a surprise to us that liberals are all of sudden employing desperate tactics.

So the dems are saying that all conservatives are republicans, and all liberals are democrats? Rove never mentioned party affiliation.

Sounds like guilty conscience to me. ‘Cept that I see precious little evidence of conscience in the DNC.

    The Truth Hurts Sometimes

Democrats are up in arms because Karl Rove called it as it is, and they don’t like it one bit:

Senator Hagel this past week said that we are losing the war in Iraq. When AL-Jazeerah runs this on their network and declares that a REPUBLICAN US SENATOR is claiming that America is losing the war in Iraq, it will not only only bolster Osama Bin Laden and his cohorts, but it will also demoralize our troops and further imperil them by encouraging our enemies. Ironically, Chuck Hagel has desires to be the president of this nation. Will America vote for a traitor for President? I hope not. This is much more demoralizing than anything Dick Durbin said. Where is the Republican party’s outrage? Where is Karl Rove’s outrage? Where is Mayor Daley’s outrage.

The Families of September 11 are pissed.
As families whose relatives were victims of the 9/11 terror attacks, we believe it is an outrage that any Democrat, any Republican, any conservative or any liberal, stakes a “high ground” position based upon the September 11th death and destruction. Doing so assumes that all those who died and their loved ones would agree. In truth, some would and some would not. By definition the conduct is divisive and, because it is intended to be self-serving and politicizes 9/11, it is offensive.

We are calling on Karl Rove to resist his temptations and stop trying to reap political gain in the tragic misfortune of others. His comments are not welcome.

    But did he mention Hitler?

Karl Rove make a typical political statement and a firestorm breaks out. Well, a firestorm among the Democrats, anyway, which I will admit is more akin to a tempest in a teapot. He said,

CERTAIN SENATORS FESS UP TO BEING LIBERALS

Finding a senator who would admit to being a liberal is harder than trying to capture the Loch Ness Monster…But by reacting so passionately to Rove, these senators reveal to all of us that his words cut close to the bone.

Something about today’s liberalista retro-Dems strikes one as Eeyore-like: Visit swamp, pin tail on donkey, summon Pooh Bear for overstuffed advisory.

Poor things, they take themselves SO seriously. But everything they do and say has for years been utterly predictable. Durbin’s anti-patriotic spasms come as no surprise, we just wonder on which peg he’ll choose to hang ‘em. “Gitmo as Gulag”—waal, cut mah head off with a chainsaw if it ain’t ole Dick up to his tricks again! What’s next—the Dome of the Capital defames the Great Mosque in Mecca because it has a strange-o Indian Maiden as Corn Goddess perched atop it? Waal, rumple mah prayer-rug! Guess we’ll just hafta label that-ere Dome as a phallic symbol unsuitable for consumption where Allah’s Baby Bombers go to kindergarten.

Nothing does justice to the Clintons, Kennedys, Kerrys inhabiting our political Hundred Acre Wood. But really, one does have to laugh.
